How to Make More Money With a Simple Affiliate Marketing Trick

Monday, January 11, 2010

I have written about affiliate marketing with ClickBank products before, but probably not about how to pick the ones that convert. You can look at the stats in ClickBank to see how many people are selling and what those things mean, but really... when it comes to YOUR list, what products would they be most likely to buy?

There's a simple answer, though it will take a little extra work. You can use any product vendor, though ClickBank is probably the easiest to make work, and it involved using a rotator.

First, don't send people straight through your affiliate or "hop" link to a sales page. Choose three different products that serve the same need. Type copywriting into ClickBank, type traffic into ClickBank, type viral marketing into ClickBank, if you're in the Internet Marketing niche, for example.

Then, because you cannot modify the sales page for other people's products, what can you modify? You can rotate the products that people see when they click your link. And then, you can find out, of those three products, which generates the most money for you.

The easiest way is to use some kind of rotator and tracking. You can get a stand-alone program that allows you to create split tests, like AdTrackz, for example, which will calculate stats for you, too. Or, you can get an inexpensive rotator program that rotates the affiliate pages people see, and use the stats that ClickBank gives you to see which product sold better. It's really simple. There are online rotators that you can use, too, without having to buy anything.

But check your stats. If you send over 200 people to one product and it doesn't generate any income... To me, that's a major loser. It's a loser product! Or at least, it's a loser for your match, for your list. But imagine what would have happened if you had been split testing two other products that whole time? I bet you would have made some money.

Try to be as compelling as you can in the email that you sent to your list, so as not to allude to which product they're going to be shown. Don't tell them you're doing any kind of test. Of course, now, you'll be sending them through the split test or rotator link, which uses your affiliate links and you're just going to be split testing three different affiliate links.

4 Things Affiliate Marketers Need

Thursday, December 11, 2008

Here's my response, along with some information on what it takes to be successful as an affiliate marketer and tips on how to make affiliate marketing work for you as an online home business. You may not think that having a home business provides as much security, but you won't get laid off and you won't be called back into the office, and you should almost always get along with the Boss. In my mind, all of this makes the idea of starting a home business all the more appealing. There are thousands of work at home jobs and home business opportunities on the Internet.

After a LOT of research, as well as plenty of trial and error, I have learned some very important things to look for in home businesses, work at home jobs, affiliate programs and all the other types of work at home business opportunities. My preferred niche is in affiliate marketing, this vs. traditional marketing is by far easier and more lucrative in the long run. You can build a higher residual and passive income this way. My opinion, of course, but try it out for yourself and see that I know what I am talking about.

Useful Tips

1) Starting a successful online business begins with research.

Look into every aspect of your business, Are you going to need inventory, storage, up front money? Websites, domains, and hosts are very important factors in research! The wrong web host and you are doomed from the beginning*. Write it all down so you can look back from time to time. Research your niche, by that I mean what kind of business would best suit you and your needs. What are you good at? Think about this question before you go any further and write down your answers so you can research them.

2) Websites, domains, and web hosts are crucial in your success.

Like I said above*, Most Internet businesses, that have a drive to succeed, focus all of their time and resources on building a great site, and then trying to drive tons of traffic to that site. I recommend staying away from Free web hosting for a business , Most free hosting has drawbacks such as they reserve the right to place ads of all kinds on your site, this looks very unprofessional and will make you lose business in the long run, so beware, free isn’t always good. Check out reviews on the host of your choice to make sure they have good credibility standards on the internet. I personally recommend Host 4 Profit as they have always had great customer service, and they, to my knowledge, are rarely if ever down like some hosts I’ve ran across in the past. Anyway, research this one immensely.

3) One of the biggest key factors in building a successful online business is traffic. Only after you have chosen the right name and host for your business should you move to this step. There are many Free ways to get traffic on the web; Articles, blogs, free advertising sites there are plenty of, traffic exchanges like Traffic Swarm, Traffic G, etc. Making sure you get enough backlinks to your site makes the Big difference. Search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN will not pick you up if they can’t find you. Make your website available to be found by getting your link on everything you can, but always staying within the rules of advertising, otherwise you do more damage than good to your business. If you have NO traffic, you have NO sales. No sales equals No Business. You see the effect here.

4) Perseverance, it’s not something you can find online it’s something you have to find within. I know you’re thinking now why did I put that in there. Perseverance is what you will need most when you start and try to maintain an affiliate marketing online business. When you work at home you get to set your own hours and granted you can even work while still in your PJ’s but at home there are constant distractions to stop you from staying on task. Someone will stop by, the kids will start fighting, emergencies arise, the phone never stops ringing, etc… You name it, it will be sure to happen. This is why perseverance is in my top 10 tips to maintain a successful online business. You must make it a point every night before going to bed to make a ‘to do’ list for the next day concerning your business. This strategy has helped me most of all and it keeps me on task.

How to Make Money With Affiliate Marketing

Monday, December 8, 2008

One of the first things most experienced online business owners learn, when we learned how to make money online, was how to make money with affiliate marketing. This is a great way to start because you don't need to come up with your own product or pay for and then test a sales page--it's all done for you!

The absolute cheapest way to begin affiliate marketing is what is known as "bum marketing." All you really need is the ability to write a basic article--or rewrite inexpensive private label rights material--and work with an easy content management system like Word Press.

So how to do you make money with affiliate marketing, using this low-cost to no-cost affiliate marketing strategy?

First, you need a website or at least a blog in your chosen niche. You can buy a domain name at Namecheap.com for less than $10 a year, and hosting at Hostgator.com for under $10 a month.

Make sure your domain name is keyword rich. If you can't find YourKeyPhrase.com, try separating the words with hyphens. If that doesn't work, see if you can get a .net or .org name. You can also get .info names for considerably cheaper costs per year.

Now, write about 10 pages worth of content for that site. Focus each page on a specific long-tail keyphrase within your niche.

What's a long-tail keyphrase? It's one of the ultra-specific but less searched for keyword phrases within each niche market. These phrases have less competition, yet are more highly targeted toward buyers--just what you need as a beginner. (Don't worry. You can also focus on higher-traffic keywords once your site has really been up and running. Right now, though, it's best to go for the long-tail traffic.)

At the top and bottom of each web page put an affiliate link to a niche product. You don't have to even mention the name of the product in your content--in fact, it's often best if you don't. You're not trying to sell with your content. Sales writing is a time-consuming process that you don't need to worry about. The product owners have likely paid thousands of dollars for someone to write their products' sales pages.

Instead, you want to hit on emotional hot-buttons for you keyphrases. This will help pre-sell your affiliate products (you should have at least three of them) by getting your readers revved up about their niche problems or concerns.

Now, you'll want to write and submit one or two articles a day, every day, to Ezinearticles.com. Target both your long-tail and high-traffic niche keyword phrases for these articles. This is where the bulk of your traffic will come from.

Finally, make sure you have an appropriate author bio-box at the end of each article. You'll want to tell a little about yourself (or your pseudonym) and your website. Link various boxes back to various pages on your website, using link-text that matches the targeted phrase for each page.

And that's it! Pretty soon you'll be making affiliate sales without ever spending an advertising dollar!
